I found this article in Gamespot summarizing a licensing deal video game company Red Mile Entertainment got to produce games based on the Sin City universe.
In that same article, the writer states that filming is set to begin next month on A Dame To Kill For. A link in that report (which goes to Filmspot) reveals what they think is the release date: January 29, 2008. So far this is the only source I’ve seen with a specific release date (even IMDB only shows 2008).
A gander over at Red Mile’s press release makes it seem like the licensing deal was done with Frank Miller directly, not Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studio nor Miramax. If Miller himself did strike the deal, I can only assume he’ll be involved in some capacity, as that was the only way he had originally agreed to have the Sin City movie made in the first place.

While doing publicity for the upcoming Shrek the Third, Antonio Banderas was asked about Sin City 2. He basically says that no, he’s not in it, but would be even if Robert Rodriguez called him the night before shooting began. Sooo… no Antonio Banderas in A Dame To Kill For for now :-\

Despite the crash the comics industry had in the 90’s, major figures from said industry continue to squeeze into the mainstream, and of course, Frank Miller is one of them. Miller was featured in a Los Angeles Times article this week, where he updates us on Sin City 2 (and 3, kinda), The Spirit, and more!
Unfortunately the L.A. Times website sucks and requires registration for older articles. Fortunately, I found it elsewhere (HA!)
Revenge of the Dark Knight
Hard-edged comics guru Frank Miller is hot in Hollywood. Now for the graphic details.

FRANK MILLER, his pale hands wrapped around a cane and the smoke from his cigarette swirling beneath the brim of his Homburg, sat at the poolside bar at the W Hotel in Westwood and watched the swimsuits saunter by. “I’m married to New York,” he said between sips of a fizzy Red Bull cocktail. “But there’s something to be said about Los Angeles too.”

According to director Joe Carnahan’s (Smokin’ Aces) blog has already seen the first teaser trailer for Sin City 2!! He says, “there’s not a hetero male moviegoer alive that’s not going to deeply DIG that spot.” I definitely like the sound of that :D
The question is now how soon the general public will get to watch it?!

Robert Rodriguez made an appearance on The Charlie Rose Show on PBS to promote Grindhouse and in it he confirmed stories that have been going around for the past week or so that Sin City may be turned into a television series. Which really, I hope it doesn’t. The original cast did such a great job in the movie that to have them replaced by nobodies on television would ruin everything. And if they decide to go the route of other movie-to-TV adaptations, that is ditching the original altogether and going with “alternate” plots with alternate characters, it’d suck too. So please, don’t!!
Rodriguez has also confirmed that filming on Sin City 2 begins in June!! This definitely keeps the movie on track for a 2007 release (many movie sites have already updated their listings to show 2008).
On the casting front, the rumors about Rachel Weisz playing Ava Lord are back once again as reports have surfaced that she chose to not participate in the upcoming The Mummy 3 (the rumors now claiming that she did so in order to do Sin City 2).
Update: website IESB is reporting that the reason Rachel Weisz bailed out of The Mummy 3 is because the script sucked :D

MySpace has a series of videos called “Artist on Artist”, where one famous person interviews another. In this case, promoting their just-released Grindhouse, it’s Quentin Tarantino paired up with Sin City director Robert Rodriguez.
As with all promotional appearances, I knew there would be little substance to it; the only reason I wanted to see it was because MySpace promoted it as Tarantino finally telling everyone what is in Marcellus’ briefcase in Pulp Fiction. Sadly, as I had guessed, it was all hype and no substance… they cop out and revealed nothing!

As I had written in a previous post, what with Grindhouse coming out (this Friday!), Robert Rodriguez is now open to begin pre-production on Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For!! I can’t wait for either event!! In the meantime, let’s play the catch-up game once again…
- According to this Portuguese website (loosely translated), Michael Madsen, who played Bob in Sin City, declined to appear in the sequel over (if I had the page translated correctly) creative differences. It claims that they’ve already found a replacement in Joaquim de Almeida, who played Bucho, the villain in the movie that brought Rodriguez into the mainstream, Desperado. The same page also claims that Angelina Jolie turned down the role of Ava Lord, contrary to previous rumors that she was dropped.
- SuperheroFlix quotes from a Robert Rodriguez interview where he mentions that not only is Johnny Depp making an appearance in Sin City (albeit in the third movie, Hell and Back… if in fact it IS Hell and Back, the various sources reporting he’ll be in Sin City 2 are incorrect), but that Antonio Banderas will most likely do the same, although they’re not sure which role to have him do (for the record, Banderas himself suggested he play a hunchback)!
- BTW, AllHeadlineNews supports the report that it’s Sin City 3 and not 2 that Johnny Depp will appear in; it goes on to say Depp is attached to play Wallace, the main character in Hell and Back. Very awesome!
- There are multiple sites reporting that babe Rosario Dawson has confirmed she’ll be returning to reprise her role of Gail. YUM!
That’s all I’ve got for now, keep your fingers crossed for a production start date announcement soon and keep on coming back to my site for more Sin City 2 news!

With all the work coming to a close on Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse, pre-production is set to begin immediately after on Sin City 2!!! According to an article at IGN and a few blogs, Frank Miller has already finished a draft of the script and is making adjustments, and they may be actively casting as well.
IGN interviewed the director of production & development at The Weinstein Company (the distributors for Sin City 2), who is quoted as saying “We’re definitely making it”, and that he wouldn’t be surprised if Sin City 3 happened as well.
A few of the blogs are saying that shooting could begin as early as this spring. Grindhouse is set to open April 6, you figure maybe a week or two for Robert Rodriguez to hit the publicity pavement and take a breather before he jumps behind the camera for Sin City 2, any chance shooting may start by the end of April??
